Urbanscapes? Overrated.

There was so much hype leading up to urbanscapes. I know it's more of a creative arts festival and it's not just about the shopping but also about music, photography and other creative artsy stuff but I was only interested in the marketplace that was supposedly to be bursting with goodies that were dying to be grabbed. I mean 70 stalls from Angkatan Baju Malaysia, Bijou, Lapsap, Threadzoo and other unexplored shops are going to be there. It'd be like heaven multiplied by 10!!!

I was so excited about it that yesterday I declared to my boyfriend that I was going to take a break from shopping after Urbanscapes.

Oh man. I wish I could take those words back :(

The trip wasn't a total failure since 3 out of 4 of us got something but it was a long way from amazing. Maybe it's because I've been to so many of these shopping events lately and have seen most of the stuff already.

When we got there we realised how hot it was. They sure chose the perfect day to hold the event, probably one of the hottest day in Malaysian history =.=" I was sweating like a pig even before I got out of the house. Imagine how yucky I was under all that hot sun. Everybody was ready to strip everything they had off XD To make things worse, most of the stalls were under one giant tent so it was hot, sweaty and stuffy >:( .

See I am totally not exaggerating about the heat!

Initially, we spotted some interesting things like these cute handmade bags from buttonmybuttons. I bought Mel one for her birthday last month :)

Look at the shirt bag with the tie! Totally cute!

and then the old skool camera from the first stall we went to.

The cute camera works! :D The lady took a photo of us :D

But as we or rather I (got separated from the group) ventured further into the giant oven of sweaty bodies, I realised that there was nothing special here.

There were lots of t-shirts - printed and hand painted. I didn't buy any cause I didn't like pop prints and extremely overly done graphic tees and the ones that I found pretty decent were either huge or tiny =.="

One of the arty stalls selling hand painted shirts and shoes.

Footwear was everywhere as well! From stylish flip flops to boots to hand painted sneakers to gladiators sandals. I was tempted to buy a pair of black and white ones but they were really uncomfortable :/

There were lots of accessories too! I suspect most of them were handmade. They were okay-lah. None of them caught me eye.

Then there were the clothes. Secondhand stuff were in such awful conditions (faded and hard) and you had to go dig through a mess in tiny baskets/suitcases. I didn't bother :/ The clothes weren't that great. At least not to me since I've seen most of the clothes before and the stores are either selling vintage-y inspired clothes or street wear. Not much variety *snore*

Once we finished up in the huge stifling tent, we went over to the better side of the marketplace.

There was fresh air!!!

and cold drinks latte!!!

Very cool drink. They poured hot milk onto coffee ice cubes so that the coffee will slowly melt into the milk :D

Most of the stalls were from Bangsar though =.=" Tea and Sympathy, Bacci and Shoes Shoes Shoes were all there!!! Oh the irony.

"I came all the way to KL to shop in Bangsar."

Again, I've seen most of the stuff already so I didn't buy.

But then my heart stopped at the Shopoholics United Stall. Right before me were the most perfect gladiator wedges.

It is exactly the same ones that SheBop Boutique were selling. They were only selling one pair per size and by the time I saw it on their website, they were all gone!!!

They had my size but then due to my freakishly huge ankles, I had to get a larger size and they didn't have anymore so we had to wait for them to restock.

"Minimum half an hour though!" said Leng.

And so we waited....

and waited.

and waited.

and waited.

and waited.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand waited.

After two hours they still hadn't restocked yet but I desperately wanted that pair so I left a deposit to reserved the size 7 black gladiator wedges and will have to pick the shoes up at their office in Plaza Damas. Yes I know I should have done that earlier XD. But but but I really wanted to go home with them T^T Leng was really nice. She said if they didn't fit properly then she'll let me change it for a smaller size or she'll just give me my money back :D

Thanks guys for bearing with me XD Loves!
